Window issue

When I open my drivers door the glass comes down 1/2 inch to avoid rubbing against weather stripping and now it doesn't come down anymore..and closing the door it hits the underside of the convertible top. Passenger door window still closes okay. Any idea on what to get and how to fix it?

Yes. I know how to fix it. Replace the microswitch.

Search and google are your friends ;)
Tons of write ups on the topic.

Thank you for the direction. I will be researching tonight!

No prob. To be specific, I believe it is the door latch mechanism microswitch ;)

Does the window work normally with the window switch? Could also be the regulator if the window isn't working properly.

In my case the microswitch was fine, it was just that the window regulator cable had too much slack in it. There is a really cheap and easy fix if you get to it before it destroys the cable completely. See this thread:

lightly pull on the door handle. if you hear the regulator motor then it's loose regulator cable .
also with the door opened, push down on the window, if it can be pushed down, also an indicator of loose cable.
if no window motor sound when the door handle is pulled, then it's the micro switch

try this on the passenger side door/window as reference point

Thank you for all the help! Had to work til 11pm last night, so hopefully tonight I can experiment with the different ideas given here and get some more information for everyone. Thanks again for the kindness.
