No, it was slower than my DD 1973 TransAm, heavier clutch, A/C was inadequate, not very comfortable. It was a 1978 model with carbs & 5-speed, 7 years old at the time. Looked cool at the time & exhaust sounded good. Transmission felt bulletproof.

As he said, drive one first. I have driven a couple, 308 and a 328, MAJOR letdowns, both.

As it has been alluded to, be careful what you wish for. My partner just got his 1969 Shelby GT500 back from the restoration shop this spring after it was being worked on for 2 years, he parked it in 1980 and it had sat in his barn since.

After his first drive in it......Talk about a grown man looking like he just found out the truth about Santa......his daily driver is a Caddy CTS-V.

Didn't anyone catch this? I don't watch this show but happened to flipping channels when it was on.

What about '88 Testorosa? A few in that year range in the 48k-50k range.

Seems 80k gets into the '00s and a nice 16k mile car in Ferrari.

I watched it! My first car was a 1967 Burnt Orange Firebird. If I remember right, it was around mid 300's build. I ended up selling it when my foot went through the floor pan:eek: It was a Wisconsin car(living there at the time) so the winter salt took its toll:mad: I still love the looks of the early model but to have one now it would have to be a restomod and even then, I would not want to give up my Boxster.

I gotta call BS on most of what I read in that link. I owned 14, 67-74 Firebirds over the 25 years before I sold my last one 11 years ago to buy my Boxster. I've seen many far more desirable Firebirds sell for half the price these allegedly sold for.

P.S. I have lots of out of print Firebird literature I plan to put on E-bay someday. PM me if interested

I'm not worthy!

Yeah this was my car also. Don't remember how old I was but seeing those two female drivers in Canon Ball Run sealed the deal for me. Now I find out what you have to do to reverse and parallel park this thing.:eek::eek:

You actually half to sit or the door sill and look backwards while pressing the gas pedal so you can see. Now I think, what were they thinking. Ever a car that needs a backup camera, this is it. Sorry if I ruined it for you.

Well if he is looking for a charity to give it to, I am not to proud to beg!:D:dance:

Always wanted to build a "resto-mod version of my 1970 T/A into a street legal replica of the racecar Jerry Titus died in at Elkhart Lake Trans Am race.

Maybe not if you order yours without the rear wing. It will increase top speed 5 MPH

F-40's and Testarossa's are still above my pay grade...need to be swapping a few more boilers!

Testicleroasters were awesome when new, but those side strakes look so dated now!

I still love the F-40. Way above my pay grade too so I had to settle for a set of the wheels:

I, too was a Magnum PI fan (308 and 328), lusted for the Countach, and of course, the 928 from Risky Business, even if it was a base.

I don't care if I have to buy a spider monkey to sit on the hood and give me directions...I will have one! :D

This is a dream car of mine. It will be auctioned this Friday. It is about 40 miles from my house. I bet I drove by this house 100 times and never knew what was inside.
It was actually on Yahoo news and on the NBC news one night.

Wow! Talk about a flashback to the past. I remember seeing these great racing machines during the "pony car wars" of the late '60s and early 70's.

They were formidable beasts, and all the Detroit factories were players. Invoking the NASCAR idiom of "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday", they hired the best drivers in the business, and from all disciplines. Parnelli Jones, Dan Gurney, Mark Donahue, Peter Revson, George Follmer, David Pearson, Swede Savage, Sam Posey and Jerry all slugged it out on the best road courses in America.

Lots of great stories from that era. Google it sometime.

On the 308 and 328, while beautiful I thought they were gutless when I drove them.

I would look into what it costs to maintain an Italian beauty before doing any serious shopping. While they seem "attainable" the cost of entry is just the beginning. The Testarossa requires an "engine out" service for cam belts and other items. It's motor is a flat 12 vs. a V-12 which results in a very different sound. I do agree they are uber cool but the practical side of me says run away.

A friend of mine actually ended up with a 3k mile Testarossa about 20 years ago, it was his father's who died suddenly. He had it for a couple of years and sold it when a major service was coming due, it surprised me but when he mentioned what it was going to cost I understood.

Definitely, love everything he did at Pontiac, starting with creating the GTO in 1964 & everything that followed until he was promoted to General Manager of Chevy in 1969, I think. He was destined to become President of GM until he quit.

RandallNeighbour 04-23-2014 09:41 AM

For me it was a 911 Turbo.

And I shall own one in retirement, but not anytime soon. Next Porsche will probably be a 991S...

I love the RUF wheels..

Vector anyone? Dad always liked them.

Ferrari 275 GTB/4, of course in red! Ferrari 250 SWB California Spyder. Silver Mercedes 300SL roadster was another favorite! Any 356 Speedster... Love silver but that Stone Grey, wow! Not a fan of American cars though a '65 Shelby GT350 (white with blue stripes) would do!
