Who here besides me is waiting for Jake Raby's upcoming book?

I call dibs on the first copy!!!!! Jake, kick your publisher in the butt! I'm exited to see it!

I'm a big fan of tech manuals. I will buy one.

thstone 04-16-2014 07:30 PM

I'll put it right next to my Bosch fuel injection manuals. :)

jb92563 04-16-2014 07:36 PM

what is going to be covered in his books?

If its an engine building manual count me in as well.

I like manuals that reveal the magic in quality engine building rather than only give a blow by blow.

I think Jake is exactly the right kind of personality to reveal how high quality and performance builds are achieved.

It's the M96 Definitive Guide.
I've been sick for the past 4.5 months with serious sinus issues that led to hearing loss, no energy and no focus. Just this week I have recuperated and I worked on the book today.

I was supposed to already be done, but there's no way I could focus with splitting headaches ringing ears and hardly any hearing.

I am now prepping for my DFI 9a1 and Cayenne engine mechanical classes that I'll instruct along with my M96 engine mechanical class at the Worldpac Expo next month, as soon as I finish the curriculums for these classes it's back on the book..

It's only taken 5 years so far... It's a step by step guide of tricks and first hand experiences..

Davev 04-16-2014 08:14 PM

Sounds very interesting and I hope you can finish it soon.

RawleyD 04-16-2014 08:20 PM

I didn't know there was a book coming, but I will definitely buy it :)

rfuerst911sc 04-17-2014 01:31 AM

Jake has distribution been setup ? How/where will we purchase ?

BruceH 04-17-2014 06:27 AM

Jake, glad you are feeling better! I constantly have sinus issues, some days worse than others, and it definitely is not fun. I think we are all looking forward to the book:cheers:

As a published author myself, I understand your plight, Jake. It's very difficult work to do when you're feeling great!

I look forward to reviewing your publication whenever it's released.

please make available on Google Play Books or at least Kindle.

I will not buy a hardcover book anymore. More space in the house, another thing to lug around or forget to bring along.

I'm in. What are you going to name it? How about "Porsche's Guide to making Aluminum Soup"?

I'm sure you guys can think of some better ones.

Jamesp 04-17-2014 10:21 AM

I think the plot line will be about avoiding the soup, though I expect there may be some pictures of soup!

Wilson01S 04-17-2014 12:01 PM

Can I get an autographed copy? Ha! I'm sure this will be a necessity for any M96 enthusiast who tinkers on their own equipment!

How about "How I Make a Living Scaring The Hell out of Boxster Owners"?

ATX_Boxster 04-17-2014 06:56 PM

Hope you feel better Jake! Thanks for your continued contribution to this forum, and I look forward to purchasing your book.

Sorry to hear about your health problems. Sounds like a great book. Best of luck with everything!

Jake Raby 04-17-2014 07:21 PM

The book is titled "The M96 Definitive Guide"

Distribution will first go to those who distribute our components in the Porsche industry. These people, and companies deserve to have the first copies as they have believed in us enough to stock tens of thousands of our products and they also sell service manuals and guides.

These are the same companies that Pelican and others buy from, so this will get the book further into the Porsche world and enthusiasts hands right away.

This book isn't about money, its about sharing what I've learned and those who work with us being able to take advantage of that and the relationships we have built. Because of this, I do not want the book to be available on Amazon or for direct downloads/ Kindle or etc for the first 18-24 months after release in print. I already have ISBNs in hand.

The good news is the IMS bearing didn't fail, the IMS might have been in 3 pieces, but the bearing was good as new.

Don't worry, I have pulled all the failure commentary from my book in its entirety. Its all unicorns and rainbows now, just like what everyone wants these days...

Ahhh, unicorns and rainbows. ^_^

Personally, I would rather have the book full of these horrific photos and the problems that caused the engines to die like this. Very interesting to me.

Thats too real for today's world.... Positive reinforcement that "everything is going to be Ok" is all thats acceptable with the masses.

For those who want to learn the "other" side of things, attend my training sessions... Thats where the carnage is brought to the surface...
