New MAF,a funky idle.
 

After a long wait my new MAF has finally showed up. After installation I started the car up and noticed the idling was bouncing around a tiny bit. The car ran pretty darn good after I installed the new MAF,no hesitation as reported before. After a spirited drive I pulled in the driveway and the car idled fine. Does the DME adjust to the new MAF,is that what caused the funky idle?

Did you disconnect the Battery before swapping out the MAF? You should have (ALWAYS disconnect the Battery before doing ANY electrical work on the Car, or you could need to add a spendy, new, DME to your Parts List!), and I assume you did.

Such being the Case, then yes, it's the DME's Adaptive Memory which was wiped out and then had to relearn, in the interim, it switches to a Default MAP. It will continue to learn for a Drive Cycle or two. Good Job!...

My 2000 S has also had the newer MAF & software installed and the idle does jump a little bit. It isn't major but you can watch the needle move 1-200 rpms when it used to move maybe 50-100. My battery was disconnected as well.

Yes l8braker otherthen the idle it was running in top shape.

Sorry.....wasn't asking you I was seeing if anyone knew why our cars do that. :dance:
