Should I buy this Boxter??? Part 2

Hello Guys,

I would like to thank you guys for guiding me against the previous deal for 1999 boxster for $8500 and IMS/rms, clutch and window regulator repair required.

I found out I am getting a pay hike next month which will allow me to afford one now!!!;)

So here is the one up sale with one owner! 34000 miles 1997!! with a hard top and new brakes and tires!!
this one is for $12500 and dealer is ready to provide me with 6 month extended parts and labor warranty.
Would appreciate if you guys can weigh and help me like last time.

Thank you,

Sounds like a good car, but for the price, why not buy an S.

Does it happen to be in Downers Grove, IL?

vthakka 03-25-2014 05:35 PM

Yes it does !!1

vthakka 03-25-2014 05:36 PM

I am not able to find one :(

kjc2050 03-25-2014 05:50 PM

It's still spelled "Boxster!"

I looked at that car Saturday. Broken LR strut, rms leak, dings all over, bald, dryrotted front tires. Now hat I've driven another one I'm saying it had either bad trans mounts or engine mounts.

Newish rear tires, so there's that.

I told him the car was worth 10.5

Now I'm saying 8.5

.Jack. 03-25-2014 05:56 PM

Were you also looking at the one with the red interior?

Wholesaler from Chicago?

vthakka 03-25-2014 05:58 PM

Yes man I got the money and went to the guy and he ditched me for someone else
the wholeseller I lost it and was very disappointed because of that

vthakka 03-25-2014 06:01 PM

I think he was a scam.

He offered it to me for 8.5 and I pulled him down to 7.5 so I think I got lucky to get away with that car after hearing about it form you. I was suppose to test drive it and then buy it today.

Yeah. Me too. I went and looked at the wholesaler one last night. Told him I would have an answer on my financing by 2pm today.

Called at noon, straight to voicemail. Called a half hour later, three rings to voicemail. He then sent me a text that he sold it for cash, and that I could talk to that guy about buying it, or he would look for another for me.

Last night he told me he would stall you and the flipper until he heard back from me.

I was livid. Told him no thanks, I'll let somebody else have a crack at wasting my f@*king time.

I spent three hours driving and looking at a car that was already sold.

The time is not that big of a deal. I guess mostly I was just pissed because I'm a man that does what he says he is going to do. I'm not used to dealing with people who don't.

Oh well. There's another I'm hoping to look at tomorrow night.

Thankfully without the aweful red interior.

Feel your pain

Let's not give the cars a bad name and avoid vocabulary commonly heard in middle school detention. Good luck to the both of you.

Sorry BiGJAKE I fail to comprehend what you are trying to imply with the whole middle school vocabulary comment. Just to be clear it's the dealer we were mentioning not the car else we wouldn't be on this forum. Thanks for being a moderator anyways:ah:

$12.5 is still high for a 1997. I didn't pay that much more for my '04 (albeit with 67k but in excellent condition and perfect PPI) a few years ago.

Anyway. Try to find one that won't need anything as soon as you get it. Make sure it passes a PPI to avoid any pitfalls.

The word "noob" isn't necessarily.

Check out the 97 that is listed here for 7k in Vegas. Do a fly and drive and save a ton of cash.

There are lots of nice Boxsters out there. Personally, I would stay away front the wholesalers and find one that is a one to three owner car that has been well cared for. Patience is the key to finding a nice one with decent miles and the color combination you want.

This is so important. Don't let emotions get the best of you.
