Oil Change 2001 Boxster S
Rather than spending $225, I changed the oil in my car today. Very easy and highly recommend it. Used Mobil 1 0W40 (Walmart 5q jugs). On another site, someone recommended the Italian Tune Up and I did that yesterday.
The car has never run better....!
Thanks for the help!

Good for you: doing your own maintenance is definitely satisfying. Just make sure you didn't overfill the oil; check the dipstick after the car has sat overnight.

If you do over fill, removing the oil filter will get rid of 1/2 quart at a time.
You have to reinstall and run the engine before you can remove the next half quart, so the engine can refill the oil filter.

Just purchased a 2003 Boxster S, 19000 miles with automatic tranny. What type oil is recommended?

OMG there are numerous posts on the topic - just do a search. Many use 0W-40, but there are a multitude of opinions.

Google is your friend. An Italian Tune Up is basically fully warming up the engine and then driving the car hard (4000+ RPM) for 30 minutes or so.
