Remote signal distance

Neither of my Boxster remotes seem work beyond about 15 feet. New battery in one, not sure about the other remote battery age.

My Xterra remote has been strong since new in 2006. It works at 100 plus feet easily, and it works around corners at these distances just as well.

Is this unusual?

Have you tried a search? I think there have been several threads on this topic. Here's one I found right away:

My 986 remote has about that range, which is all I want, because of possible "butt dialing."
This past Christmas morning, @ 5:00 AM, I heard a car alarm going off, annoying as hell in my quiet neighborhood, or any neighborhood for that matter.
Went outside, and yep, it was my Camry with outstanding remote range. Apparently butt dialed the alarm button.
Lights and horn flashing full blast. Embarrassing, to say the least.
