Please Help! QTP exhaust
Hello, my name is Nick and I am 18 years old. I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster with sports package, etc. I have a question regarding the Quick Time Performance electric cutout exhaust system, or electric cutout systems in general. I enjoy the stock exhaust sound very much, but I am young and just simply want more. I am on a tight budget and instead of purchasing a very expensive race exhaust system I am going to take the cheap route and go with one of these. My question is... Is the cutout exhaust safe for my car being completely stock aside from pre purchase add ons? My father is worried about there not being enough back pressure, then causing it to "suck up a vale" which will be very costly to replace. Please leave your opinion regarding this type of exhaust mod and if it is safe, dangerous, or just stupid.
Not sure which sub forum to post in.

Well I imagine that they will be installed after the first 2 cats and before the last 2. So yes rear delete. And yes United States

You eliminate the rear set of cats. Saves about 12lbs per side from the rear, breaths better, and sounds great.

Nick,
Congratulations!
It isn't everyday that one sees a teenager driving a Porsche.
Reference exhaust modifications...If you want more sound, I recommend you purchase a Cat-Back exhaust system off Ebay. I bought one for about $300 including shipping. It bolted right up with no problems. I did not have to replace the cats. It saved a ton of weight compared with the stock muffler, decreased the heat in the rear trunk and sounds great.
Just my two-cents.
Good luck.

Just found out that I will not be able to use the QTP cutouts because they are illegal to install due to the fact that it deletes the rear cats. But I still want that loud powerful exhaust sound. So if you say that a cat-back exhaust system is a great option for less money, I might just do that.
