Normal I believe. Double beep on lock is cause for concern but unlock is normal.

i've seen this posted a few times, and so far i don't know if anyone has figured out what is happening. i can tell you my 2001 does NOT beep when unlocking. only when locking and something is wrong.

My box does not beep at all and I wish it would. Is this programmable?

no this is not normal.

it's something that has only started to happen recently, in the last couple of weeks.
owned the car 8 months.

and, it's not consistent, does most of the time now, but not all.

A double beep means there is a fault in the locking system. It could something as simple as a defective position sensor in a door lock. You will need to read out the fault codes. A Durametric can do this. In my case, the codes pointed me in the right direction, but didn't reveal the exact broken part.
