Arm Restraints

I was reading about PCA Autocross Events last night. And I think I read that if the car is an open top (Boxster with the top down) you need arm restraints?

What the heck is that? Did I read that right??

Thanks.

They're straps that keep you arms from flailing in the event of an accident. Most convertibles run DE's with the top UP to avoid having to install/use straps.

I thought autocross was more lenient - I think SCCA advertises "just a helmet" for AX.

Side Note: PCA is fairly strict on safety. I got bumped from a PCA event because of the broomstick rule (2" clear over helmet to top of roll bar). I have since put on a BK extension. Some groups would let me by without it (it's close enough) but PCA went "by the book". I'm not faulting them by the way, they run very good events that give a lot of seat time for the money, and are also known for being very well organized.

Limon, couldn't you fudge the rule but slouching down in the seat a bit?

I WAS slouched... :o

I ran one PCA event and didn't have that problem.

Is it worth messing around for $30?
