Newbie, need some help!

Hey all. I have become very interested in a 2006 Boxster S recently. The info I'm looking for (aside what I have learned already by reading this forum) is does anyone have the current residual values for the 2006 Box S? Leasing is a real possibility and I would like to educate myself. Thanks in advance. I look forward to lots of discussion.

Leases........

My experience with leases (Leased 2 cars) you get the best deals when the Factory offers a special lease. As an example, we ended up leasing my wife's BMW X3 becuase it was cheaper to lease, then to buy outright. The amount at the end of the lease (buyout) was about $4,000 less than if we bought it (same money down)!

Like with a $60,000 car your lease will probably be $900 or more correct?

These change all the time and are tied to the specific car you are buying, with options. Any dealer or leasing company will supply these. Once you have them, you can compare to used car values to see what you think.

As Bruce points out these residuals aren't easy to generalize, but 987s are already starting to turn up on lease trader. 2006s aren't on there yet, but 2005s are (including 2 S models) and the numbers would be similar. The point of my post is to check out what other people are paying on 987 leases to give you the feeling on financing you're looking for.

A large portion of dealer financing on the 987 is done by Porsche Financial Services, so I would get a feel for what they are like plus at least one other lender.

Hell, you may even want to assume a lease off of the site, something I considered back when I was looking (ended up buying the box, leasing the merc).

Yikes! A grand every month for a car you will not own unless you shell out $31k more.

Me thinks my paid-off 1997 is looking nicer every minute!
