Get my first Boxster tomorrow.......

...and I can't tell y'all how excited I am...............!!

Good afternoon everyone, my name is Si and I hale from Staffordshire in the midlands of the UK.

I pick my 1st boxster up tomorrow at 11am after deciding to part-ex my MR2 roadster. She's a black 2003 facelift 2.7 boxster with full history, brand new MoT with no advisories, 6 months comprehensive warranty and full road tax. 70k on clock and quite superb indeed. Have a 125 mile journey to get to the dealer but an even better 125 mile trip to get back. She's a looker with full savannah leather, GT3 alloys and S calipres.....!!

Really looking forward to being a part of this very useful, informative and very much international forum and getting to know and enjoy my new toy.

Catch up with you all soon and will post some pics as soon as I can.

Here's looking forward to a weekend of driving, claying and waxing.

Si :)

Welcome to the club, and be sure to enjoy driving her as thats what will keep you most enthralled, rather than making her a garage queen.

Besides, you have some very picturesque scenery to enjoy and be sure to snap a few for the Forum as well.

thstone 02-27-2014 11:57 AM

Congrat's! And remember to post up some pic's right away!

Cool. You're not too far from me (relatively speaking as this is a predominantly US forum)!
Most awesome car I have ever owned. Don't think I could own a different brand

Welcome to the forum Si. Being an ex Brit if I lived in the UK I would own a Boxster or a Miata but I don't. Anyways I own a 2001 Box base and am really happy with it. With a 2003 you get a glass back window! |Look forward to the pics...
Cheers, G.

pics or it didn't happen!

Obertelli 02-27-2014 03:48 PM

Congratulations, Si, and welcome aboard!

I'm also UK based (Croydon, south London) and bought my first Boxster (a 2002 2.7 tiptronic with full leather and pcm1) on Tuesday last week after three days and nine hundred miles of travelling across the UK to look at two other examples. Unfortunately some twat ran into the back of it last Sunday, but only the bumper has been damaged and I've already got another in the right colour which I'll be swapping this weekend. Hope you have more luck with yours.

Other than that, the car is superb. A bit of a contrast to my previous car, an '88 Citroen 2cv6...

Enjoy the ride home. Mine should have been a 100 mile journey home from Milton Keynes, but as I was enjoying it so much I deliberately took the longer way around the western half of the M25 :D

What's road tax and how is it beneficial when you buy a car?

It's a nice British tax we get charged to drive on our roads & its calculated by car year & co2 output ;)

See here :

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/road-tax-guide/

No benefit to the car but can save us Brits a bit of cash if car has tax on it already ;)

heliguy 03-01-2014 05:19 AM

We pay our tax when we register the car and get tags. I understand that your tags stay with the car for its lifetime? MOT is inspection?

Tags = Number plates ?

Yup a yearly inspection & test to state car in roadworthy condition

Very nice looking ride, indeed! :)

Do yourself a favor and just drive her for the first few months and listen to her. She'll tell you what she needs.

Make maintenance your primary concern and budget for it. When she's all sorted to your liking, drive her like she was meant to be......

I know this sounds like car porn, but trust me, it's true.

Just sayin'.........

TO

p.s. she prefers the violin, not the hammer. ;)

Looks nice.
The deck lid reads Boxster S, but the exhaust is that of a base??

You are quite correct sir, she's a 2.7 and will be debadged soon, don't wanna advertise her as something she isn't, according to the original bill of sale, it was ordered from factory badged as an "S"................why.......???!!!

Si.

recycledsixtie 03-03-2014 04:40 AM

I think skoosh you will find that the 2.7 engine is adequate. I am happy with my 2.7 litre engine here as it has enough power for me. The S type owners would likely disagree though.....

Just try and get out and drive it regularly!:)G.

I quite agree, I've had some seriously fast subarus that would eat most exotics for breakfast so straight line speed is not of much interest anymore. It's more about handling, grip and power delivery for me as I venture into my 40's....... good tyres, brakes and alignment will prove the Porsche to be more than a match for anything on the road.....if driven in the proper manner of course ;)

TRPLBLK04 03-03-2014 07:32 AM

Looks nice..........Well done.

Why debadge if it came from the factory that way? You might have a rare Boxster, are there any other "S" features like the bigger brakes or transmission?

To be honest it does have the big red calipres from the factory but only 5 speed....seriously doubt it's a proper "S" though...... sort of defeats the idea of the "S" to start with doesn't it........? No matter, I'm loving the car all the same and look forward to getting to know her :)

jeffm 03-04-2014 02:59 AM

Get my first Boxster tomorrow.......

Crazy, I've never heard of a factory badged S without the S engine.

I've got the 2.5 and love the car. After picking up my 996, I can say I've got the power bug (that's a whole other thread :) ), but I'm having a hard time parting with a car that's been great to me. Will drive a 986S and a 987 base, but I'm in no hurry as I've got the 911 to get rid of now.

When I went to my local dealer to get a new rear badge in silver, I was surprised that it also came with the silver "S". Obviously I eft it off the car, but maybe the previous owner picked up a replacement and just stuck the entire thing on?? Who knows....

Enjoy your ride!
