Each to his or her own I guess, but the old aircooled cars get under one's skin. Certainly has in my case, the noise, the classic 911 form, the raw driving experience. I love my Boxster S, but this is a different animal. Not to mention a boyhood dream.

Well there are drivers that prefer an automatic porsche (PDK) and there are drivers that like to get on with it all on their own. No butt saving. It's you and your own two feets and hands. Porsche didn't create its legend building plush, insulated cars that make you look like a better driver than you actually are. Sometimes its good to put down the iphone/ipad/Lexus keys and get back to basics. Just don't put down any expensive flooring in that garage just yet.

Oh, sorry!:eek: I didn't mean to spoil it for you. My major complaint with it was the lack of air conditioning. Down here, that's a major deal. Maybe where you are, it's no bigs. Hubby, who drove that one the most, did like it a lot. It is a real driving machine.

Did decide to keep the Box, mostly because it's been convertible season again, and I love that. Also, I went to look at other cars and there's just nothing to replace it with, not even the new Jags, IMHO. So, there really is no substitute. :D

Drive your classic, enjoy it, I'm sure you'll love it, it's a beautiful car.

One thing about the Boxster... the A/C will make icicles. As for the SC... its got aftermarket A/C that the current owner says works, a fact which remains to be seen on the PPi and in real life. Of course I live in Norway so the heat is more crucial, and I confirmed it will roast your face on the test drive. :D

Lol, then you will looooovve it! It does indeed have a tremendous heater! That car heated up very quick.

We also had trouble with it overheating in stop and go traffic, but a typical summer day here is almost 100 degrees, so you will not have that trouble either.

I am about as far south as you can get and still be in the US, Norway is a different world, climate-wise. A lot of my family is from Finland, and they were always happy when the summer fell on a weekend. :D

LOL that is so true. Where I live we don't have a summer you would even call spring. :(

An overdue update... I picked up the blue SC at the end of march and its a total blast. Runs great, drives great, and makes a whole lot of great noise. Subtle it is not, with headers and backdated exhaust. Enjoy the pics! :cheers:

Its called Minerva Blue, Porsche code W9W9 for the coupes in the late 70's and early 80's.

Edit: I call the car "Minerva" due to the color.

I hate tacked-on extra headlights even more then impact bumpers, not happening.

On the fence about doing a subtle hot-rod backdate. Nothing wild, but a nod to the clean pre-74 look... :)

This one is a regular at my indy's shop. He's got lexan in the windows and a very rare leather prototipo steering wheel. He once showed me an F1 Ferrari steering wheel from the 50's worth about $10K.
