Starting to look for newer Boxster

My home situation / car situation is changing, and I may have to give up one of my two cars (currently, '03 Box S 6 speed and '08 Acura RDX Tech). My thought is to sell the Acura to my kid, and upgrade to a newer Boxster S. I've seen where quite a few people seem to have great luck searching for newer model P-cars, often finding great bargains, and I'm wondering the best way to go about doing that. Do you go through dealers (I don't have a favorite P-car dealer in my area - I bought my current 986 used, and the dealer always wants to lecture me about not having it serviced there, not using N-rated tires, etc...), and don't seem to even take notice of me when I'm at the dealer. So, do you guys have friends in the car business, or what approach to you use to locate nice, late model used P-cars?

Pat

I bought mine used as well and rarely go to the dealership. I have found a few local autoshops that love to work on porsche cars and I use them before I would even consider the dealer. I have already passed my second car to my son but what you said makes me regret that and wish I would have traded up for another p-car. I researched and still research pricing on a few of the auto auctions sites )CARMAX, AUTOTRADER, MANHEIM) and also check my local dealerships by google searching for boxsters for sale. Hope you have time to do some online research and find exactly what you want. its worth the extra time spent and you wont regret it.
