need Wheel feedback

Hey dudes,

My '98 came from the factory with sport classic 17'. The dealer put these rims on a friends 911 and put his turbo twist 17's on my boxster before I ever saw it. I have purchased a brand new set of Michelin pilots. The tech tells me the rear rims are very slighly bent. One took a single 30gram weight the other a 14 gram. I always thought the sumotomo's were flat spotted and still believe this as they tended to round out after a few miles. He told me they were so slight that he thought I'd never feel it, apparently he's not a Porsche owner. Do any of you guys have a pair of straight turbo twist 17 rears you could liberate at a decent price? Have any of you had any experience with Metro wheel service in Atlanta, who claim to straighten bent Porsche rims? Lastly, is this guy just saying this because the rim took weight and he doesn't want to replace tires and every day someone ********************es about a small wheel weight...I'll be awaiting your thoughts...

Thanks in advance..

Stu

It's my experience that once your rim is actually bent it is toast. I've repaired the lip of the rim on a few different pairs in which the shop basically beats the hell out of it, then repaints it good as new.

Hope that helps.
