Amazing!
Car handles amazing after tuning the coilover and getting alignment and corner balance.
I adjusted the coilover ride height myself and when thrown on the corner balance scales I was within 1 lb of the optimum corner weights without the guys adjusting anything!!! :dance: I also posted my set up for anyone interested. I also noticed that while driving if change into second gear from neutral 1 or 2 out of every 5 times there is a grinding sound. This just happened and I am kind of worried. I have new tranny mounts that I will be putting in soon. Any ideas what the problem could be and how I can fix it assuming it's not the syncros? Looks like you got a nice setup and you can feel it in your bones. Cool!
As for the trans, I would change the fluid and run the old stuff through a strainer. Pay attention to the color of the fluid and the shiny bits in the screen. That should tell you the story. Fluid that is heavily discolored with lots of sparkles means you will be probably be shopping for a gearbox soon. If the old stuff looks reasonably clean, some fresh oil might smooth out the shifting. |
Its a definetely a nice setup I was talking to Rob for a long time to decide on what settings I wanted to run.
I will change my fluid and the mounts. Also I am going to have a short shifter in a few days so would it be okay to use this in combination with fluid and mounts? Hope its not syncros |
I can't believe you don't need the adj. rear toe arms. I did and my car is higher. The eccentrics offer little adj. range. Good for you though. Your car must feel tight!
The short shift will probably make things worse as your shifts will be quicker. |
Got kind of lucky that I didn't need adjustable toe arms. the shifting problem is very weird because if I shift hard and fast above 3,500 rpms it shifts perfectly and smoothly. I am having the problem below 3,000 when I shift slowly and just cruising. So do you still think the short shifter would affect it? If so, I don't want the SSK yet.

Many shops have noted that a short shift kit tends to be hard on synchros. They are not legal in my class so I never added the kit.
My car did not need adjustable rear toe links either. |
At the lower RPM you may be asking more of your syncros- that is , to match the two gear speeds. I'd definitely change the trans fluid and put in new Porsche stuff- it's expensive but you know it's got to be good if they put it in all their new cars.

No offense, but I wouldn't call those corner weights ideal.
Mine are: LF= 652 lb / RF = 648 lb LR= 817 lb / RR= 819 lb Set with 150 lb weight in drivers seat. |
Despite initial concerns, after I installed coilovers and lowered my vehicle substantially, I didn't need adjustable toe links either.
