Totaled my boxster

and with the insurance money i find it hard to get a replacement, considering i was lucky to pick a random one that was flawless (minus a coolant cap)

low mileage 986 boxster S or slightly high mileage 987 S

not to mention i bought the car two months ago and some kid turned out infront of me.

Any day a Boxster gets sent to the junker is a very sad day. It sounds like you survived the ordeal though. There are plenty of Boxsters out there, maybe not this exact combination of options/miles/condition, but you'll find a new one soon enough.

i'm buying her back totaled and gonna donate the motor and tranny to my cousin who has a regular boxster. so atleast her heart shall beat on. wondering though, are 987s worth the extra dollar? and still easy DIY?

That sucks!!!!!

You might want to sale the motor and trans. You should be able to get some good money for them and use the funds towards buying a new one. It might even make sense to find a clean roller ( I think I saw one advertised on this forum that claimed to be super clean) and do a transplant.

After donating the motor and trans there are lots of good parts to part out. Good luck on your search for the new one!

Sorry to hear, glad that you are ok! The advice seems to be buy the newest you can afford. I like my 2001 S even though I could afford more. Buy the nicest one you like and can afford.

Most important, glad that you and other driver are ok, but brother, I know how you feel! (http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/43878-ahhh-my-car-hit-bad-today.html).

Use the opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade. Take your Porsche ownership to the next level. Its a chance to start over, only smarter.

Best wishes!

Got my eyes on a 05 S vs a 01 S. Prices are the same, but have a 70k mile difference.

Very sorry for your loss.

70,000 miles difference is a lot of $$ when it comes to suspension / interior / componant wear and replacement.....
But as you know, some people can trash a car in 25k and others can look after them & they still look good after 100k.
