Headlight function?

No key in the ignition, I pull out the headlight knob a bit and turn counter clockwise, nothing happens?? What am I missing? What is supposed to happen? 2001 Boxster S

Hi,

On my '99 the Headlights won't function unless the Key is in and the Switch turned to the #2 position. Without this, all you get are the Parking/Daytime Running Lights. Must be a Battery Saver...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

Well first counter-clockwise turns on the parking lights by pulling up and then turning. These only work when the ignition is not one.

Clockwise turns on parking & daytime front headlamps (1 click) and then full beams with another click. However, full beams are not accessible without a key in the ignition so it will stay at parking & daytime front headlamps. Daytime front headlamps are very dim (only a glow in there).
