weird slippage when turning

when i am backing our of a parking space or making a u turn, sometimes it feels like the front wheels are gyrating a bit form side to side... anyone have this?

I have similar experience when turning on full lock, it's more noticeable at slow speed. Have jacked up, removed wheels and can't find any obvious problems. I have service due soon and will ask garage to investigate.

Don't go hard or fast on full lock, very bad for the suspension and steering components.

Sounds like a slipped belt but that seems unlikely. In a tight U-turn, the wheels are actually running on different trajectories and can cause some scrubbing but backing straight out you shouldn't feel anything. It could be a worn bushing on the trailing arm- maybe....Some tires flat spot after being parked and I wonder if that's what you're feeling when reversing? These cars have a lot of caster ( compared to what I've owned) and this puts things in an awkward position when reversing as can running a different offset from stock. I'd get an alignment at the best shop in town or at least remove both front wheels and stress the bushings this way and that.

I get the effect when backing out if i roll over a rock that isn't centered on the tire. I attribute this to the ball baring effect from the rock and the wideness of the tires. They are wide enough that you get a little of the same effect welded/locked differentials give when turning.

It sounds like the perfectly normal scrub you get with the steering near full lock, due to ackerman/castor jacking effects.
