Debadge Boxster S?

What do you guys think debadge or not?

I love the clean look of a debadged boxster and that sleeper look when you pass by and people have no idea what kind of car just flew by! Makes a really appealing ass:)

Just hard to decide whether to debadge an S.

Do it. All it costs is a little of that dental floss you're not using anyway, and a little elbow grease to completely remove the residue. And it's reversible...you can just re-attach the emblems if you miss them.

I left mine off after my trunk lid was repainted. I like the smooth look better.

Kyle2112 01-18-2014 04:44 PM

Yellow, I took mine off about 2 weeks ago. I like it off, the wife likes it on. Now the question for me...if I do replace it, what color. Titanium? Chrome? Hope the wife decides it looks better off.

Haha I agree, looks better off.

I want to debadge but my dad prefers it badged.
Oh well, most likely will debadge soon and if I don't like it I will rebadge.

Kyle2112 01-18-2014 05:05 PM

Funny, Auf and Yellow we need our bumperettes painted. The smooth rear deck and color matched bumpers make for a newer look.

silver-S 01-18-2014 05:11 PM

Tomorrow, I am putting the "P O R S C H E" badge from a new Cayman on mine. The original owner apparently took the de-badge option when choosing the Aerokit, but I figure if I'm driving a Porsche, I don't want people asking themselves the name of that cute little Toyota that just went by, because there's no badging on it.

dghii 01-18-2014 05:35 PM

I removed mine years ago. When I purchased my car, the lower part of the "B" was broke. I ordered a new badge, put it on and promptly broke the same spot while washing the car.

Enough. I removed the rest and have left it off ever since.

dghii 01-18-2014 05:48 PM

My tool box has been badged instead of my car

Much better debadged.

(that's a reflected contrail, not a scratch, btw)

Muzzle of Bees 01-18-2014 08:28 PM

Mine just broke where the hook of the B, the bottom left, where it begins to curve up. I was washing the car. All of the badge is coming off soon. The S as well.

Hi Yellow.
Defiantly De-Badge, Did try just the 986 even that was too much

http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...86Badge001.jpg

So it's like this now.

http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...-Badged001.jpg

The Boxster has the most beautiful curved rear end of any car in the world, and I’m sorry silver-S only someone that doesn’t know they’re cars would think it was something else, and I don’t care about them type of people they are not car lovers, I often find myself looking in the wing mirror not too see what’s behind me but just to look at the curves on the rear wing ;)

Mark_T 01-19-2014 06:26 AM

It's a decal. Ebay

Porsche Boxster 986 S 3rd Brake Light Decal Overlay 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 | eBay

Was kinda funny - the seller asked for pics of his decals installed on cars so I sent him mine, and he used it on his auction. He might have asked first, but I didn't mind. I was just surprised to find a pic of my car on some guy's ebay auction.

Rebadge a Boxster S

My car has the Aerokit option, which comes with a new trunk lid and (optionally) no badging.

Yesterday, I added a P O R S C H E logo, in the style, of the 2014 Boxster/Cayman. I like it.

Slate 01 01-20-2014 04:57 PM

MarkT,
Do they send you all three options: PORSCHE, BOXSTER, BOXSTER S ?

Oh, I already ordered but didn't see a place to make a selection, so I assume they must all come.

Thanks

jmccjr 01-21-2014 07:37 PM

Slate 01, you may want to contact the seller and let them know which one you want.

From ebay listing:

•Option 1 - Porsche
•Option 2 - Boxster
•Option 3 - Boxster S

Please tell me with your payment if you want Option 2-3 or I will send Option 1. Thanks

jmatta 01-21-2014 07:50 PM

De-badge is fine if that's your style...I prefer my badging to none, however.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1390366235.jpg

Mark_T 01-22-2014 05:18 AM

Yeah, sorry, Slate - just saw your post. You do have to send him a note if you want option 2 or 3, otherwise you will get "Porsche"

Clean your lens thoroughly before applying the decal and take your time and be careful - you only get one shot at it. I actually ordered two in case I fuct up the first one, so now I have a spare.

Slate 01 01-22-2014 06:40 AM

Thanks JM,
You mean you are supposed to thoroughly read those ads, lol?

I contacted them and got everything straightened out.

Been thinking about removing it for a while now. This has probably convinced me. Love the minimalism, not a fan of branding. That said, I'm thinking about the brake light but also concerned people behind me would hate it/think it too ostentatious.

Allen K. Littlefield 01-22-2014 07:54 AM

I like the retro look of the bear bottom look. Plus I am an old customize r and always de badged my cars and I wish I had a pic of my '58 Impala custom convertible to share with you but I don't. Here is a pic (again!) of my clean butt. It all depends on what turns you on so go for what pleases you. Also I don't care if someone doesn't know what kind of car I am driving. Since no one pays for my payments, gas or insurance or repairs it matters not to me what they think about my ride

I am adding a pic of a similar car to my '58 only mine was Emerald Green and I had most of the chrome trim removed and cruiser skirts, a cabinet knob grill and candy apple red wheels.

not mine but I have the same set up. Kind of minimal and to the point.
I don't like spelled out names for car models that already have a number designation.

BMW wisely stuck to the script.

Hello,
I like the way you painted the "S" on your boxster. Can you tell me how you did that? Primarily how you got the letter off and how you reapplied it. I am assuming you removed it to paint it.
Thanks in advance for your help. It looks great and exactly what I was thinking of doing.
Kevin

If you are talking about the red "S" sailer22, I think those come from Cayenne S cars?
I bought a red "S" off ebay I think.
