Golden Globes

Just saw Niki Lauda on the Golden Globes. First time I've seen him doff his hat in 38 years.

Ron Howard's movie "Rush" was up for two awards: Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor (Daniel Bruhl).

Not a snowball's chance in hell of winning, but still nice to see them in the audience.

The film would get my vote!

Whats that movie called where a geeky guy fall in love with an Operating System that he wrote?

I cant imagine how they took that premise and made a decent movie out of it.

I think it got nominated, boggles the mind.
I have not seen it but wonder what folks who did, think about it?

I've seen the movie twice now - first time on the Imax screen, second time at home, and I could easily watch it again anytime. I was impressed by how closely the actors were made to resemble the actual Hunt and Lauda. It was also very cool the way the real film footage was integrated into the movie.

Lots of great movies in 2013. That was NOT one of them.

I watched that too. Niki was sporting what looked like a new sponsor on his cap. I wonder if he brokered some kind of deal with them to be the brand when he took off the cap to show his famous scars.

Tina Fey had the best joke of the night. "Gravity is a movie about how George Clooney would rather drift away into space and die than to have to date a woman his own age".

As for Rush, no disrespect to Ron Howard but I don't think he was the guy to make a movie about Lauda and Hunt. His movies always seem like historical G rated storytelling. I would rather have seen someone like Michael Mann do the movie with a bit more edge. Although the scenes from the Monza GP were definitely moving. It just seemed like the movie lost its pace after that.

Another great movie to check out about this era is 1 a documentary which I downloaded from the Google Playstore and watched with some awesome speakers I picked up recently.
The sounds of those 1970's cars are amazing.

Here's a hyperlink to the clip from last night's awards ceremony:

Niki takes off his cap at the 0:50 mark. I always thought he kept a cap on at all times because of scarring on his head, but it looks quite normal to me.
