Finally!! A Break in the Weather!!
 

I was like a kid on Christmas morning today, forecasted Sunny and a high in the mid 40's, an absolute heat wave compared to the -10 degrees earlier last week. Now for the conundrum; Drive Car? Wash Car? Tune up the Bike? Take Bike for a Ride? Decided to do them all, can't believe how good it feels to get outside and move around again.

Along that vein, did you guys know our own Johnny Danger is the proprietor of a very well put together cycling website?

There ya go.... you won't find a better FERRARI than that. Good to know JD has a website up. I was looking for custom spacers to fit ON my old turbo twist wheels, tried all the hammers I could find nothing works. JD HELP mate... I'd like to lower the stance of that Farrari a little.

Looking for a set of KW coilovers for the front so I can lower it down to about the same height of the rear. If you can help with that as well.

Drove the Boxster this morning. when it got warmer I spent some time detailing it while the steaks were cooking on the grill. Going to take the bicycle to work Monday. Tuesday winter returns.

I still ride an older Kestral 200sci that fits like a glove, Campy components move like butter, and it rides like a dream.

Unless I'm going to be 24 yrs old again soon, this is still more bike than my old body deserves!

I hear you, I'm a Clydesdale and put a hurtin on the poor Madone's Carbon Fiber frame every time I ride the poor girl.

One thing I did find surprising a few years back when I bought the pictured bike to replace a worn out Trek 1000 (Discovery Series) was the improvement in ride and a very noticeable drop in like route times, there is a difference.

There's something about the simplicity and directness of a well made road bike, aluminum / CF / titanium framed, doesn't matter, weird but I just love staring at them. Cruise JD's website if you want to see some truly beautiful machinery.

Great to see a 'sub culture' of cyclists on this forum. I went for a road and mountain ride this weekend. Got a new Felt carbon frame and love it. 70 degrees here and perfect riding conditions. I have to take advantage of riding in the winter here! Summer is too nasty!

Ridley flandrian main bike now. Occasionally ride the Serotta Atlanta when I want a little steel love!

Bought a Trek 7.2 about 6 months before I bought my Boxster. Loved it. Work was 6 miles away and the bar was 8 miles away so that was perfect for a 300 pounder trying to get in shape. So I got a good 6 months of riding before I put it in the "pile of stuff I'm never going to use again."

I'll break it out this summer, of course I say that every summer along with, "this year I'm going to hit the golf courses at least twice a month." I've golfed 36 holes in the past 10 years.

I rode a Helium SL with Campy Super Record 11 for awhile. Not my favorite bike, but light and playful nonetheless.

You should look into making your own e-motion rollers. The actual 'inside ride' brand rollers are very pricey ($700) but some handy YouTubers have made excellent versions from old Kreitler rollers with pretty basic parts like roller blade wheels (to keep you from rolling off sideways), 2x4's and bungee cords. It's absoultely brilliant. If I didn't ride year-round I'd definitely make one. They're great at mimicking the natural forward motion of biking that you don't get with a bolt down trainer, less stress on the frame too.

Mid 80's I got into biking heavy duty. I had a local bike shop build me a Ciocc world 77 frame w/ Campy Super Record components. I did some racing, time trials, centuries. I put 20,000 + miles on that bike. Went through 3-4 sets of rims. I still have it but hardly ride it anymore. It is just like the 986, the control, feeling every little thing, the extension through it.
When I do ride it (It is still in great condition) I am immediately reminded of it's minimalist attitude, like the 986. 90 psi on 1 inch wide tires and a seat that is a plastic shell with leather cover + 50 more pounds on me = Ouch on every bump.
The Mountain bike is a much easier ride, like an SUV
