What can and can not be added.
 

Been a long time since I've been here. But one motorcycle and one mustang later, I'm back in a Boxster. Now for my dumb questions!
I've purchased a 2000 Base. The car only has the 2 stalks behind the steering wheel. However it does have the temp reading in the display.
My understanding is that should mean the OBC is activated.
Now. I found a 4 stalk switch.
Is this a plug and play installation? And also, How about the cruise. Will that be available as well?

One last question. The shipping company that brought me the car, disconnected the battery. Soooo I need a radio code. I work for Honda, and it's cake to get the serial number in order to get the code. Is it the same for Porsche? Is there a combination of button s that will display the serial number in the display????? And if not, is there another way without taking the unit out?

Loren the Admin at Renntech.org is pretty good about cracking radio codes. Also I've called a Porsche dealer, provided the VIN for my Boxster, and was given my radio code in exchange. I called the dealer that originally sold my Boxster. I don't kno if that step was necessary or not.

I have yet to upgrade from 3 to 4 stalks on my Boxster so I cannot comment on that mod. GL

Sadly, the dealers here in Northern VA aren't as cooperative! I was the parts manager for a Porsche dealer for a few years, and can remember providing radio codes with proof of ownership. No big deal. But guess that was then and this is now!

Radio Code Help:

Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number - write this down. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio - write this down.
