I just got rear-ended

Stopping for traffic, I look in my rearview and see a BMW bearing down on me...no escape route for me and I see her look up from her phone in time to hit me. My bumperettes took the hit for the rest of the car. Both will need a respray.

I took photos of her insurance, license and registration. She asked me to get an estimate and she will pay me the cash. She lives about 2 miles from me. It looks like I will be calling automotivetouchup.com and doing the work myself. I should be able to pocket a little money from this for my pain and suffering.

Hooray for cellphone wielding Beemer drivers!

Sorry to hear this. It sounds like you got your bases covered regarding documentation. You should probably have the rear bumper skin removed to make sure there isn't further damage inside. See what the body shop has to say.

Hopefully the damage is purely cosmetic and easily repairable with touch-up paint. Good thing no airbags were deployed as well. Glad you're safe.

Merry Christmas:eek: Thank goodness for the bumperettes! Glad it wasn't worse and you are ok:cheers:

those much unloved bumperettes do a fine job at absorbing minor impacts

alanqning 12-24-2013 10:46 AM

I was worried for worse when I saw the post... haha

Perfectlap 12-24-2013 11:04 AM

so was she cute at least?

heliguy 12-24-2013 11:19 AM

She was not too bad, she was happy I didn't act like a dick about it.

Time for new ones. I believe bumperplugs.com have them color matched and they are pretty easier to install.

05-13??

Glad to hear bumperettes saved the car. Bummer it had to happen around Christmas, glad it was nothing too bad.

thstone 12-24-2013 03:13 PM

Sorry to see this - but glad that it was relatively minor damage!

New ones? Do you work for Bumperplugs? They just need sanded and repainted.

Only thing I can think of would be 5 - 13 mph / kph?

boxslrr 12-24-2013 04:15 PM

And ROW owners laugh at Bumperettes in the US...

License plate tabs!

Here that means they expired end of may, (5) - 2013.

alanqning 12-24-2013 06:33 PM

I live downtown, plates would be checked all the time. You could probably get away with this stuff in the burbs right.

You'd get tickets all day long here, even parking enforcement!
