Can anyone in Springfield Ohio check this car out for me?

turbo

It's at Mershons world of cars.

Looks nice!

I'm somewhat familiar with Mershons, they are mainly movers of vintage Corvettes and usually only sell American Muscle cars past that. A good friend of mine bought a big block Vette from them many, many years back, they hid a lot of very serious issues on that thing. Porsches are far from the norm when it comes o what they usually sell, that would make me wary also.

I suggest you google them a look over what others have to say, not to mention recent investigations.

What are those black things on the front bumper?

Ckrikos 12-24-2013 04:46 AM

Do you know if there is a shop that can do a ppi nearby? Apparently the previous owner is a friend of the owner of mershons, that's how they got it. It hasn't had the 30k mile service which bothers me but the last owner did replace the alternator. It's had 5 owners and the last for a year and a half.

The warts are bumperettes.

There is a shop in Dayton, Ohio that would do a PPI:

The Garaj - Automotive Technicians, excelling in safety and performance

Yuri owns the shop, VERY knowledgeable and a VERY good guy.

Coreseller,
Yes, Yuri is a great guy and knows Porsche. I would use him. He is about 45 mins from Mershon's

That would make me nervous. I might be ok with 5 owners over 10 years, but over 1 1/2? I would be very careful.

Perfectlap 12-24-2013 07:27 AM

5 owners in less time than two oil changes? Okay, that's interesting because it means the owner(s) have been able to quickly sell the car... That sounds like trouble.

I read his response as 5 owners, the last one for 1 1/2 years. IMO a little more reassuring but not much.

Ok, that makes sense. A little better but still a little shaky.

Here is one I found on the Excellence Magazine site. It is at Sunset Porsche and has been listed for about a month. Get a month end/year end deal.

2003 Porsche 911 Turbo Arctic Silver Metallic | Beaverton, Oregon | Sunset Porsche

Here's another 5 owner in speed yellow:

Excellence :: Porsches for Sale : 2001 996 Twin Turbo for sale in CT

Ckrikos 12-24-2013 07:58 AM

Good picks, but I can't buy yellow and am looking for less than 50k miles

BruceH 12-24-2013 08:03 AM

The Sunset one is close at 57K miles. It doesn't list the number of owners but it might be worth checking on. Plus, with a dealer at the month end and year end, you might be able to make a sweet deal.

Ckrikos 12-24-2013 08:40 AM

I will call, but porsche dealers never budge. I like sunset but expect no difference in attitude.

I think you will find dealers quite pliable December 30th or 31st, they are looking to get inventory off the books for tax reasons, I've bought 2 cars on New Years Eve..

My motto has always been, "If you don't ask, you don't get."

I know you don't want yellow, but if you're up for a flashier and rather rare color take a look at this one:

http://www.cstatic-images.com/supers...1/J6645/06.jpg
2003 Porsche 911 Turbo, $44,995 - Cars.com

Zanzibar Red exterior and black interior. Factory options include aero kit, sport seats, deviated color stitching, aluminum accents. It has had some slight aftermarket work done to it including having the ECU reprogrammed, but it doesn't look too heavily modified. Under 50k miles too.

If I could afford it, I'd move on this one. Zanzibar Red is a favorite of mine. It looks very different in person compared with in photo. It has metallic and pearl elements to it that make the color shift between red and orange depending upon the light.

Anyhow, I'd better got a mop for all this drool...
