The videos make it it look real easy, and I consider myself pretty handy with this type of work, so I bought the stripes and managed to screw it up.
I've since bought another set and will have it professionally installed in the spring.

I like the stripe. Its on my list I have arctic silver. I like the retro look. I loved the stripes on the 914's!

I did my own and spent about 30 min per side. It's tricky, but a laser level and some basic knowledge on application of vinyl will help. Lots of water helps.

I think the stripe finishes the car nicely.

Thanks "itsnotanova"..I actually purchased an original set of the side stripes (they were in the original package but unusable because of age) I was able to have my nephew who has a car accessory shop make a new set from them out of vinyl. He put them on for me and I think they look great. Some have commented on the front piece not looking right and I somewhat agree but haven't had a chance to see how it would look if i changed it.

Can someone photoshop the black stripes as shown in this thread onto a silver car but without the Porsche lettering ? I'd like to see a set of toned down stripes. Thanks

RBatsch 12-13-2014 04:04 PM

I like the stripe and am thinking of adding one to my Meteor Grey 987.1 S. Not sure I like the little bit on the front bumper though...think I'd keep it just between the wheels.

gomarlins3 12-13-2014 06:04 PM

I was going to say no, but it works on your car.

I've never been a fan of cosmetic accessories and graphics.
It's sort of like saying you're opening a "Classic 50s Diner" and naming it "Classic 50s Diner" then festooning it with pictures of Elvis and poodle skirts. Kind-of ruins it.

Beauty is totally in the eye of the beholder. Many people love the stripe, many don't. Certainly doesn't mean it's ruined.

Hence: "I've" never been a fan.
It's an honest answer to the OP's question, unless it was intended to be rhetorical. ;)

To my eye this looks good. Just a little bit of contrast without being too flashy. I don't need to advertise it is a Porsche I already know that, to me the badge on the frunk is enough. I think this simple stripe ties in nicely with the black top, the black interior and the black tires. Plus I plan to add a GT3TEK lower rear bumper cover with the black center section it will tie in well with that. But everyone has an opinion and I am not judging anyone that thinks differently :D . Thanks for the photoshop.

Remember when they used to just say S.C. or turbo at the most.

Luv2Box 12-14-2014 08:43 AM

I did a throwback strip for the early 911's and 914's on my '99 Silver Box and liked the way it looked. When the car was repainted the painter begged me not to reinstall the strip so I left it alone and still consider reinstalling it. As has been mentioned there is a lot of boring space between the front and rear wheel wells. I also thought it gave the car a little more attitude.

RBatsch 12-14-2014 09:53 AM

Luv2Box, I really like your stripe with the 'Porsche' lettering centered in the space between the wheels even it it ignores the lines of the door. The Boxster has a sort-of 'retro' look to it and that's why I feel the stripe works, making reference to the older cars of the '70s.

Has anyone done a 'ghost' stripe that is just slightly off body colour so as not to have so much contrast?

Box4two 07-02-2015 10:17 AM

Got mine done today, went with light silver/gray to match the wheels, i'm really happy with the look,
