P301 cylinder misfire - CEL blinking safe to drive to shop?
 

I was away from the car for about a week and half. Fired it up and engine is stumbling with a rough idle. Sounds like one of my coil packs kicked the bucket finally. CEL light is blinking. I shut it down and plugged in the scanner. I'm getting P0301 and P0430 (i think 430 is a frayed wire, I get that one every time I ride over a hard bump). My local indy is probably swamped so I don't think it will be looked at before Monday. Safe to drive to a dealer close by or should I have it towed to my indy?

In a word - NO.

One should never drive when the CEL blinks. You should have it towed.

I always err on the side of blinking light. In searching for the P301 code on the forums I came across a few posts where people were driving with this or other misfires.

best case, it may be wrecking your cat by dumping a bunch of poorly combusted crap into it as per the 0430 code.

I have not been able to figure out that 430 code. I replaced the 02 sensor with a BOSCH, still lights up. My mechanic hooked it up to the Autologic thing, no issues. However, this diagnostic check did pull up something to watch out for if you swap seats (GT3) like I do after summer, apparently the fiddling with the connectors under the seat de-activated the airbag on the passenger side without any indication on the dash lights. Always good to get your Boxster checked out.
