Navigation Add On

Has anyone tried installing a navigation unit into a 987 2005 or 2006?

Have you received any pricing from Porsche yet? I bet that's gonna cost a fortune....>$6,000 is my guess!

jrofman 02-05-2006 05:14 AM

I haven't gotten the car at this point. Waiting to setting on my other car. Its impossible to get a red or black base 987 with beige interior with a nav unless you order from the factory.

I second the ordering process! If you are going to spend that many clams on a car, why not get what you want? I could keep my Boxster affordable by ordering exactly what I wanted and I didn't have to pay for anything I didn't want! In the scheme of life...what is a couple months?

DBTH...Can you post pictures of your car? That sounds like an awesome combo I would like to see!

White haters? Sorry, I found the semantics of your post humorous. Sorry, I'm bored and I have to go see an artsy fartsy film in Old Mesilla in a couple of minutes. We are riding with friends of ours so I don't even get to drive the Porsche. Damn. This always happen at Academy award time...my wife wants to see the nominees.

Well, here's a cheap alternative - free! Google + cell phone = point-by-point driving directions, maps, satellite imagery and integrated links.

You can order 2 different types of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) on the Boxster and Boxster S:

Code P16 PCM 2.1 is $2,970

Code P23 PCM 2.1 w/extended Navi is $3,175

I thought that you were thinking about doing it aftermarket or through Tequipment (987 044 900 72).

So you want a Black/beige or Red/beige 987 with Navi? You should be ablt to find that. Especially if you are willing to drive a few hundred miles to different (out of state) dealers.

Hey jrofman:

There is (was) a 2005 Black Boxster with Terracotta Leather at Brandywine in PA with the following options:

M6A - Black Mats - Porsche lettering
P16 - PCM 2.1
P15 - Power Seat Package
573 - Automatic Climate Control
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
342 - Heated Front Seats
P74 - Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package
P73 - Bose System w/Windstop

You can probably get this car for 20% off MSRP. Send either myself or luxury1 a PM if you need a contact name!

This car is available. It has 700 miles on it. The MSRP was $56,850 and they are selling it now for $47,500.

You should offer them $46,050 if you have any interest.

jrofman, Beverly Hills Porsche (a little closer to you!) has a 2006 Guards Red/black leather with the following:

573 - Automatic Climate Control
446 - Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
342 - Heated Front Seats
P73 - Bose System w/Windstop
P15 - Power Seat Package
397 - 18" Boxster S Wheel

Considering the cost of the factory system, I'd go with a replacement stereo that has the flip up screen for navigation. They cost $1200-$2500 installed depending on the brand and quality. :D

RandallNeighbour 02-06-2006 08:29 PM

John you are not thinking about the new "no din slot" Porsche dash that would require a complete redo. Aftermarket stereo systems are a no-go in the new Boxsters.

This is my only disappointment with the car. Even the Bose isn't as good as everyone would like and there's no way to upgrade it.

But when I win my black 987 next month it will have a non-bose system in it and I'll still be very happy.
