I am about to embark on building baffles to replace the OEM door baffles so I can fit 6.5" speakers in the door. I took out one of the baffles last night, then read all the DIY threads I could find on building baffles.
Here is the part I don't understand; those that have built their own baffle out of wood have used either 5/8" or 3/4" wood. However, the part of the OEM door baffle that sticks out of the door is 1+". How are you gaining any depth by using wood that is thinner?
Here are a couple photos of my OEM baffle. Doesn't it look like way more than 1"?
