Cayman wheels for my Boxster

Scored an amazing deal today. Purchased a set of 07 Cayman 18's with original tires for $400 bucks. A good day for me. This weekend I will determine what if any spacer that I may need.

My great buy today.

That's not a deal, that's a steal!

I know...I felt like a thief. But it felt so good to get them. Just love the Cayman wheels...they just have that bold look to them.

Congratulations! I recently bought the same wheels (also with tires) for considerably more. I installed them on my 2000 base 986 with no spacers needed. I was also able to sell my old 17" wheels and tires which helped recoup some of the expense.

Ok, now that you have yours,,, HOW DID YOU DO THIS???

Post a picture so I can see them on your ride.

I occasionally check craigslist for Boxster parts. I hit just at the right time. Got them from a guy in Daytona...a 50 mile drive from Orlando. It pays to check ebay, cl, and the forums. Deals are available, usually these guys just want them out of their way.

Very nice wheels! I have picked up several sets of 986 17" wheels for $400-$500 depending on condition but 18s usually go for a lot more.

Paint them black before you install them!

I have them too. My fronts came with 235s and the right one rubbed on the bottom of my strut perch. I haven't heard of this before, so maybe my pass side strut perch is lower for some reason. I went down to 225 which doesn't rub - I assume the diameter is slightly less - just enough to avoid having the inside 3/4 inch from rubbing up on the perch.

Congrats! Great deal:cheers:

Nice! Every once and a while you can find a pair of wheels and tires for amazing prices. I've seen a few slip right under my nose.

wheel weight

Nice wheels! I actually like the look of your oem BBS-SDII wheels better, but these are a close second and, I suspect, lighter. Do you by any chance have comparative weights available that you could share?

BrokenLinkage 11-19-2013 10:07 AM

not to mention, easier to clean!

Great find! I love digging through Craig's. I thought my 18" twists for $500 with tires was a good find.

Leave them. Black makes the look like rims missing their hubcaps.

jcb986 11-20-2013 05:14 PM

Not a big lover of painted or colored rims. Natural, chrome or silver is my choice.

And what will you be doing with those lovely wheels you're taking off? I doubt you need them for snow tires.... I'd be glad to get them them out of your way. Does $400 sound about right?
