New Wheels need some help.
So I picked up some new wheels. I imagine they will fit but maybe they wont I guess i will find out shortly. They are off a 997 the rim style I believe to be called the carrera III. Either way it could be tight with the rear wheel fitment at 18x10 but we will see. (im sure someone will enlighten me on the buy first ask questions later mantra)
Either way, my concern is more of a paint deal. I was thinking of powdercoating the wheel a matte black. and my calipers matte (or shiny) red. not sure. but whats the concensus on a red pin stripe going around the edge of the wheel? too much. also thought about doing that in silver. either way let me know what yall think. Also. if there is anyone in the wilmington NC area that likes to shoot AR15s and other assorted weapons let me know. I just picked up a Leupold HAMR optic for my rifle and i want to test it out. |
You should stay with 986 or 987 wheels...18's fit fine after 97'.

ya like I was saying earlier the ones i picked up are 18x8 et57 and 18x10 et58. so if I understand offsets correctly i will need spacers?

If you got 19's, they will not work from a 987. By the way, I have a S&W M&P 5.56 with a laser dot scope. Have had it for a year and haven't the time to go and shoot. Plus I purchased 2000 rounds, so I'm ready. Maybe I will shoot some raccoons that keep coming thru my yard....maybe tonite, little varmints.

*fitment based on tires that fall within the range of 225/235 (front) and 265/275 (rear) |
i saw in an old post you recommended FVD i was looking at their spacers. Not sure though if I want to go 15mm in the back just in case i want to go up in tire width. i dont mind the 265s but i ran that on my 17in wheels and kinda wanted to go wider especially with the 10in rear width.

They're are three constants in life: death taxes racoons of the three, racoons have by far the best chance of surviving a cure/fix. They can live anywhere, rarely travel outside a two block radius in urban areas. Where there is food they will be your new neighbohr. On brain scale they are the Albert Einstein of varmints. If they could handle the recoil they'd be hunting humans with better accuracy than the average gun buyer. |
Ill shop around. the wheels wont be painted for a few weeks. The main reason for possibly going to like 275 in the rear is aesthetic. I have track wheels so no problem there
