I got some (3m Scotch Gaurd) of the overspray on the black trim piece on the rear deck, and it immeditaly turned sticky

I thought I cooked the goose, but it turned not sticky and no discoloration afterwards.

My advise, tape the whole damm car in the future IMHO

guess I've been luck

I've never taped, I just wipe it off if it gets on the car/glass/rubber/trim.
I figure it wouldn't really hurt anything.

I've never experienced any stickyness.

My car's being detailed today and I asked them to put on the Raggtop for me. I warned them about the overspray and they seemed to be familiar with that sort of product so we'll see how it goes!

I use a lampshade or a shoe box. I thought about cutting a hole in the box so I could get my hand in there while keeping the box flush with top.
Also an idea was to use a sheet and open and close the soft top to make a sorta 'tent'. Spray away let dry and then remove the sheet. If you have a soft top cover getting your hand in there and spraying underneath the cover is a good idea too.
usually I try to spray right before my monthly clay barring of the car.

Huh?
Sorry, but I don't understand. Can you say this in other words?

do you mean the smaller, cockpit type cover? You spray underneath it? I sprayed the top of it with some waterproof stuff. Never thought of spraying underneath it.
hmmm, what would that do?

thanks!

It soulds like he is suggesting that you spray the underside of your top cover, if you have one.

Either that, or he is suggesting to use the top cover as barrier for the over-spray.

Possibly, Perfectlap is on drugs today!!

Definitely recommend masking if you are using Zaino or another synthetic paint protectant as I had a bear of a time removing the overspray from the Zaino. RaggTopp almost seemed to bond with the synthetic finish.
