01 S, Manual 6 - Randomly will not start

I have lately been experiencing a condition where when I turn the key to start the car nothing happens.

There are no warnings or any other apparent signs of trouble, the starter simply makes no motion.

After a few attempts though the car does start as normal.

This morning it happened again and since my leg muscles were sore from playing Baseball the evening before, I made a focused effort to make sure I was depressing the clutch all the way in, and it fired right up.

Is it possible that I have an intermittent or failing clutch switch?

Where might it be located?

Do they generally fail or just get loose and need to be adjusted and re secured?

What else could it be if not that?

Coincidentally it first started after my Autocross racing last weekend.

Could be the switch in your ignition barrel, too.

Good point.

All the dash lights etc do act normal but I suppose the START position could be the culprit as well.

I'll jiggle the key next time it happens and that should reveal whether its the ignition switch.

Having said that, mine does this sometimes - if I kill the ignition and then quickly restart, sometimes it won't respond - and I put a new switch in fairly recently that I am pretty sure is just fine...

Try jumping the clutch switch wires. If its starts, the problem is the switch.

This happens occasionally to me also ...pump the clutch pedal a few times and it always starts ...need to replace the clutch switch eventually
