235 section tyres on the 8.5 inch rear 986 rim...
I'm thinking about sticking a 235 section rear tyre on my 2.5. Boxsters in general and the 2.5 particularly are stupidly over tyred and having driven the GT86 again recently, it's reminded how much nicer a sports car can be when the limits are more approachable.
I could swap to the 16 inch wheel, but it really does look ****************. Also, someone in the UK recently stuck 225 winters on the rear 8.5 Boxster rim, so I'm hoping that a 235 section summer tyre would fit OK / not look silly and stretched. Any experience anyone? |
Had a 235 DUNLOP SportMAX (Made in Japan) on a 8.5" front wheel for a few years on my 2.5. Square fit, no stretch, excellent handling & braking power
Different tyre brands/makes; different sizes/stretches |
An 8.5-inch front wheel?
|
That is correct. Had a bit of hard time finding 7" in the ultra light wheel config ;)
Below is the 235 SP SportMAXX Dunlop I am talking about http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/011380018977.jpg |
I run 225/45/17 rears in winter and yes they're definitely more fun than 265/35/18...

Ekam, that's on the standard 8.5-inch rear rim, yeah?

********************in, thanks.
You're not tempted to go for a smaller tyre year-round? |
