B@B exhaust
anyone have any experience with a B@B exhaust for our cars. If so, how do you rate them as far as sound, drone and performance.

The Boxster I had came with a B&B Triflow? Exhaust on it when I bought it. Sounded great but there was definitely drone, Sgt Brad who purchased the car from me installed headers and possibly bypass pipes? and said that helped immensely. A video of the car taken by the prior owner:

I have had B & B on my Boxster for almost 10 years now. Top Quality. Keep in mind it is very subjective, but just know that almost every sports car I have owned, I have changed the exhaust for sound.
B & B drones under 2k rpm, not bad, but it does. It definitely has a very high end sound with just a little rasp (right smack in between the sounds of a 986 and 996, in terms of tone and volume). I still get comments to this day from smog techs, other Boxster owners, to strangers about how unique and exotic my car sounds. I have stock everything except the B&B's. And I have wanted to change the test pipes to get rid of the 2ndary cats for the longest time, but am very afraid that the sound will change, to which I am in love with. Dilemmas, dilemmas... Performance? Just the pure music/sound makes the car go faster! |
Btw, my car sounds dramatically different than the video that coreseller posted???? Mine still has the signature Porsche flat six sound...hard to explain

Porsche Boxster Exhaust Applications from Billy Boat Performance Exhaust While working on the car I did remove it, it was VERY well constructed. The video above is pretty much exactly what the car sounded like to me. I have seen other youtube videos depicting a B & B exhaust which did indeed sound a bit different, headers or sport cats installed also? The drone on mine was pronounce at 2800 to 3000 rpm, it annoyed me but not quite enough to go back to the stock (no sound IMO) muffler. |
