do not buy after market fuel cap
hey guys,
i just wanted to warn you all not to buy aftermarket fuel cap. my fuel cap failed the emission inspection exam, so i was forced to buy one in order to pass. i bought one at the local autozone. however, a few days later, i got a cel. p0455. after playing around, research, clearing cel multiple times, i finally realized that the only thing that fixed it was an OEM fuel cap. so just letting you guys know so that you don't go through the same stress that i did. |
Yup, the fuel systems are very fickle. I remember I bought an aluminum cap specifically with Boxster etched in it and even that did not work! OEM seems to be the victor in this case.

Anything that cheap should always be OEM. The savings is not worth it.
The only exception I make is for obviously rebranded parts like a MAHLE oil/air filter where the "generic" is still made in Germany. |
I had a P0455 as well. I gambled on the cap from Pelican parts and it has worked well so far (700 miles since the change)
