for DRL, does this car use the xennon?

seems like my full headlight system will be on even when the switch is in the 'off' position.

when i turn the switch from the 'off' (.) position all the way to the 'on' position (turning clockwise to the last position), externally nothing changes, only the instrument panel and centre console lighting will come on inside the car.

is this normal?

any canadians can chip in ?

That's how it works on my 2001S- Canadian car

so there is no real point in turning the knob to on unless i need the instrument panel lighting. correct?
