Immobilizer/ECU
I have a 2001 Boxster S that had water
build up under the drivers seat as a result of heavy rain. Initially, the alarm went off on it's own which confused me but after reading many posts on here, I realized that was on of the symptoms of a water damaged Immobilizer. After removing the unit and cleaning it I was able start the car. As of today, the windows and power locks are not working. I heard that you can't purchase a used Immobilizer because once it's programmed with another vehicle it can't be reprogrammed. ..is this true. Are my only options at this point to purchase a new unit and have it reprogrammed at a Porsche delearship? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |
There is a shop in Florida called ECU Doctors that can repair broken ECUs. Google them and give them a call. Others have been pleased with their work and prices.

I believe anther option is by the set out of another boxster ECM, imobilizer and key fobs then install them You may need to have the dealer fix the milage. In PA you would have to have a signed statement sent to the DOT for the milage discrepancy.

Mine was 100% soaked once. nothing worked on the car...
Pulled it out ran alcohol all over it then had a fan + hair dryer blowing on it for a solid 24hours. then put dielectric grease on all fuse contacts and pins. she has worked like a dream ever since! so there is still hope of avoiding the Stealership! |
