Can I just say something? There is no such thing as all season tires. The producers have created a new marked, thatīs it. Over here, all season tires are illegal..
Summer tires are hard rubber to get asfalt grip. Winter tires have much softer rubber for snow and ice grip. Itīs that simple. Do no buy the cheap stuff. You wouldnīt buy a cheap airbag or cheap setbelts, would you? Itīs your safety we are talking about. One example to underline my point: winter tires have twice the break length on asfalt than summer tires. Vice versa.. |
I have decided on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S + tires and should be installed next week. For all you naysayers re A/S tires my snow tires will go on if the road conditions get overwhelming. I really want to experience an extended season of driving on non snow tires.....
Thanks for all your input.:) |
I don't think you will be disappointed with that choice.

Good choice. There's not much out there better then the Pilot Sports.

Sorry to hop on this thread, but I too need some advice on tires. I just discovered that my Michelin tires are 10 years old and have dry rot.
I know I want to replace with Michelin tires, and really wanted to get Pilot Super Sports. One problem, they do not come in the sizes I have on my 17" wheels, which are 205/50/ZR17 (front) & 255/40/ZR17 (rear). The closest available are 205/45/ZR17 & 245/45/ZR17. I would really like to replace the wheels with 18" rims, but I can't find any OEM 18" rims that will fit my car. I love the 5-spoke rim, I think they were on 996' cars. All I have been able to find are 18x8 ET50 and 18x10 ET65, and from what I have read I don't think those will fit. So, back to finding a 17" Michelin tire for my existing rims. Looks like all that is available in my sizes are Pilot Sport A/S 3 or PS2. Not going to drive the car in the winter. Suggestions please. |
You can also go with 225/45/17 (same OD) on the front. Supposed to give crisper turn-in but I haven't tried it myself yet. Next set.
