First car: 1967 Oldsmobile 98, 455 Rocket V8, stock, cherry, $1000.
http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf84208d7.jpg What I really wanted: 1969 Camaro SS 350... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...psd27045b0.jpg |
1st car: 1970 Mustang Mach 1
1st car I wanted: 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Bought in Sep 75 for $950. It had been hit in the rear and my dad and I worked all fall and winter repairing it. Got it done just in time for Prom. I was a Jr then and had one of the coolest cars in my class. But it was a 351-2bl - no big blocks or 4bls allowed by dad. Wanna feel old? That chick in Particlewave's Camaro pick is now 65. |
[QUOTE=Wret;364483]Wanted:
http://www.classicandperformancecar....re.php?id=7171 The chick, the car, or both? ;) Oh yeah, I always thought those Opel GTs were cool too. |
I "inherited" a 1963 Mercury Meteor from my grandfather. This isn't mine, but it looked just like it:http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379978943.jpg
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379978963.jpg Then I bought a 1980 beige Toyota Tercel. It had a 5 speed and handled reasonably well, but it was slow. Again, this isn't mine. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379981996.jpg What I really wanted - 1959 Porsche Convertible D. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/01379982160.jpg It was actually British Racing Green and it wasn't as nice as the one in the photo. Of course the seller was only asking $1800 for it. My Dad told me I couldn't park it in the yard while I restored it, so I had to pass. He also told me that I wouldn't have gone to college if I bought it. I tell him the car would be worth $150,000 today. |
My first car - 1961 Austin A40 - 948cc producing 48 pure British horsepower!
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/A401379985041.jpg What I wanted - Lola T340 - Ford 1600cc producing 120HP. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/Lola1379985106.jpg I would have settled for this driver - 1973 Lotus Europa. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379985162.jpg In the final analysis, they're all just cars. Wonderful cars, but cars nonetheless. TO |
Wanted... a BMW 750... Got... a BMW 750. :)http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379985737.jpg

What I really wanted was a Volks Wagon Rabbit custimoized!!! If your in Cali, you know what I'm talking about. Went to sleep dreaming about this car and what I wanted to do to it. Back in high school this was about 18Gs I think.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379990112.jpg What I got was a brand new Isuzu Pick up with no radio! I later fixed that with two 12inch Punch woofers and some 15inch wheels all around. Still can't hear good to this day and I think that is the culprit. Now you can laugh. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1379990206.jpg |
What I wanted:
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1380023307.jpg Friend had one he would sell me for 2,800. Looks just like this one. Dad said no way in hell. Probably smart on his behalf, but damnnnnnn, in 1985 that was my realistic dream. (DREAM, was the 1974 911 Targa in the garage) What I got: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1380023439.jpg But in tan!!!! Chick Magnet I tell ya! |

I got a used 1978 Toyota Celica, red. Years later I got a red 1990 Celica, new, both were awesome.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1380056406.jpg I Really wanted (and never did get for some reason :mad:) a '65 Mustang. Red, obviously. Who knows, I might still get one, one day . . . but it's going to need to be a convertible, unlike the pic. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1380056515.jpg |
