tires ! no joke
so the PS2's on the front are finally due for a replacement. where as 2 yrs ago i saw quite a few options to replace the front 205-55-17 with other brands, now when i look the only exact replacements are either conti or mich, the rears will be due in about 10k km as well. so i was hoping to get something for street use with better wear life. the PS2's have been good but worn off fast
all the options would now force me to go to a 205-50-17 for the front if i don't do the michelin, this means slightly small and reduced life, could also affect speedo pickup if on the front were is the speedo pickup? front or back? i would really like to be able to consider a yokohama, or kuhmo or hankook or bridgestone what say you...? any recommendations for longer street life |
Longer tread life? Consider all season tires. You will give up a little ultimate dry grip for longer life and 3 season use. A good compromise for the great white north.
Kumho, Hankook, Yokohama and Bridgestone all have good A/S choices but I have no direct experience with them on a Boxster here in SoCal. I do have Yoko A/S tires on the wife's Lex and they are very good tires. |
The most common alternate size for the front is 225/50-17, which would alleviate some of the factory built-in understeer for a more neutral handling.
