Please, will somebody specify exactly what valve, or post a part number? This has nothing to do with wind flow...the "howling" or "whirring" noise from near gas filler cap immediately goes away when you lift off accelerator.

In this thread, at least 3 different valves are cited as the problem. Driving me nuts, would love to order correct part and take care of it. Thank you.

Who says Porsches are expensive to maintain?....Thank you TRPLBLK04....covered the hole with a piece of duct tape tonight.....whirring, howling sound is gone!

Good to here Verhag.......worked for me as well. :)

I did nothing and now the noise is all gone. I donīt understand my car.

Noise has returned. Sealing the hole under the gas filling place does not make it go away, as suggested below.

Anyone have any other tips as to what the noise could be?

Hello haz. Just wanted to ask if you sealed correct hole? Its not the one below gas cap, thats drain overflow hole. Its to the far right, when gas fill door is open, it would be under bottom edge of door. Mine pictured here (thou not a good pic) you can see the strips of white electrical tape i sealed mine with. Just thought i whould mention as mine has no howl for over a month now..............Cheers.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1388885899.jpg

Removed tape from hole beneath filler cap, covered hole in front...noise gone. Is this tape covered hole going to cause its own problem?

Thanks for the tip
