A Boxster doesn't float!
Yesterday a went with my wife for dinner and a storm break up. The interior light of the car and the emergency light start to blink. We arrive to our house safe. I decided to disconnect the battery. Next day I reconnect the the battery and central locking switch was blinking. The remote control, windows, trunk switch doesn't work. The car start, the radio, lights, computer, horn works. I decide to check the anti theft control module under my seat and it was wet. I disconnect the battery, dry every thing but is the rug is wet so I decide to left the car alone until is dry. I will appreciate any recommendations or tips, regards. :ah:

The central locking and immobilizer computer under the driver's seat is probably wet, and will need to be removed and dried out.

Just phoning it in JFP? ;)
Laredo: you are on the right track. It wouldn't hurt to open it up and flush with rubbing alcohol, also. Check all connectors for corrosion before re-installing. Your water issue needs to be resolved, too. Check and clear your drains ;) |
Thank you for the advice. I already remove the left seat and use a dryer. Particlewave do you mean to open the control module? Is it possible? Anybody has experience in this particular problem to adventure a prognosis in the module?

It's a throw of the dice as to whether or not the unit still works. Yes, you absolutely need to open it up and flush with rubbing alcohol. I would also use a soft bristle brush to carefully and gently scrub the board.
It's not the water that does the long term damage, but the mineral deposits that water leaves behind. Cleaning with rubbing alcohol eliminates the deposits. There are several members here who have had the same problem and using the above method is the best route. |
I have the module in my hands, but I can't open it. Do you have a procedure to accomplish this?
