Top off oil with rear trunk not working
 

Relatively new Boxster owner. Is there a way to top of oil if you can not get in rear trunk ? My solenoid release and manual lever release are broken. I took off driver rear tire/heat shield etc and apparently my emergency release cable is not there. In serious need of having to top off oil. Thanks in advance for your time

What is not working on the solenoid , is it just the switch ?

Have you removed/looked behind the rear bumper for the emergency cable ?

Rear solenoid hasn't worked for a year.Not even hearing a click. Took read driver tire and tire well liner and looked all over but no emergency cable release. I am at a loss what do do next

If the dash oil level guage is not blinking, indicating that you are more than a quart low don't worry about it.

Other wise there is no other practical way to add oil to the engine.

I will meter the switch on mine later , as I've never investigated it .
But I suspect it will be a simple 12vdc+ on/off switch .
If you have power there and a bad switch it can be shorted .
If you have no power there you can supply it with a temporary jumper .
If you have power and a functioning switch its the latch at the rear , which will leave your emergency release as the only option .
Your emergency could have simply been rerouted as a convenience or anti-theft procedure .
Many reroute the front behind the tow-hook cover for easy access for example .
