Thinking of Paint Side Intakes ?

1 Attachment(s)
I'm thinking of painting the black inserts on my side air intakes yellow to mach the body. Any thoughts ?

trimer 08-06-2013 04:47 PM

I like the idea. They look like black holes now so it might make it more pronounced with it yellow.

Ps I always love seeing a pic of your ride. How many miles are on that thing?

I try to. :)

I personally don't like the all painted look.

I wonder how it would look with black shrouds and yellow painted louvres...?

Fit 2003 ones ??

Auf los! 08-06-2013 06:53 PM

You'd probably like it a lot. The grilles (or "strakes") are a neat detail of the Boxster, and in their natural black are rather hidden. I painted mine silver recently. See my thread about it.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1375843858.jpghttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1375843925.jpg

Make sure they do a better job than this:

Hey, at least I didn't put Chaz Bono all over it! :)

I say, "Go for it!" The added Speed Yellow can only increase the power the Danger Mobile already has!

So as is, its egg yolk yellow with a black top, mirrors and black wheels - sure it looks like a bumble bee, what else is it going to look like ?? :p

I'm sure dbear61 can photoshop a pair of wings onto the top for you.....

Decided against the turbo side intakes?

jsceash 08-07-2013 07:17 AM

I like the black accents against the yellow I'd leave it go.

Still on the fence about them.

paulv 08-07-2013 07:48 AM

Since you have the front vents in black, keeping the side vents black is a good combo -- but on the other hand.... it's a matter of personal preference.

Have you thought about painting the rotor hats in yellow when you have to replace the brakes?

My recommendation is that you get a professional designer to give you some advice on this -- my favorite designer is Cheryl Torrenueva who appears on the Restaurant Impossible show (Food Network). Don' know her knowledge about cars, but who cares -- she looks good!!

Regards,
paul...

I say paint them!

+2 Johnny!

I recommend a yellow pinstripe on the outer edge of each wheel & maybe a black splitter for the rear valance.

Agree, paint em. If you don't like it you can always strip the paint or paint over. I added the '03/'04 set in body paint on my '02 and luv the look.

get a pair of gembala or techart grilles , paint is not going to do it.

03-04 are a different style and already painted. You will like the turbo look ones, I assure you.

I was only stopped :)

Chard 08-08-2013 11:41 AM

I would leave them. I like the negative space, even more so because of your black wheels.

heliguy 08-08-2013 12:28 PM

I posted them. search "Cayman spoiler retro-fit".
