Pretty good deal if you need one, it's not a durametric diagnostic tool but it can be helpful and used on other cars. Bought mine years ago and it has saved me plenty:

You're right, that is a pretty good price for a unit that displays the generic code readings.

Is there any reason not to buy this for our Boxsters? I've only worked on my 914 up to this point and it has no stinkin' computers.

Before I bought my Durametric, I bought one of these at the local auto parts store. I paid about $50 retail. Looking back, I should have saved my money and bought the Durametric first. I paid about $200 for the cable used and I've saved at least a $1000 in car shop labor costs since.
