What's your favorite gear shift?
Hey all
What's your favorite gear shift? When on the freeway I love dropping from 5th to 4th to accelerate past the slow pokes. Or going into a turn droppong into 3rd as I accelerate into the curve. What about you? |
3rd to 4th and back.So much flexibility with the 6 speed and the 3.2 motor.
|
Definitely 3rd to 4th
|
3rd to second heel and toeing hard on the brakes. It's trickier to get right than any other H&T downshift and so more satisfying when you get it just right.

Reverse to 1st. From backing out of the garage to getting ready to drive!

4th to 3rd and 3rd to 4th

4th to 2nd heal and toe downshift on turns 6 and 8 at Homestead. The approach is near 100 mph followed by fairly slow second gear turns. I just skip the downshift to third, concentrate on late braking and then downshift to second right before I start to ease off on the brakes at the corner entry. One less downshift lets me concentrate on late braking and getting the conger enntry speed right.

1-2nd gear on the autocross course!
|
4 to 3 and hit the gas!
|
All of them!
|
4th - 2nd turning onto the street I live off of late at night. got a ticket here
|
Any change that puts me into third gear. Love third gear.

Since enhancing my engine to 3.6L it's doing what you describe by flooring the gas while leaving it in 6th. :D |

After installing a louder muffler & Cayman airbox I get a audio reminder that startled me the 1st time. I have no plans to increase the power further. |
I was driving along one day, I think the PDK had gotten it up to 5th, but I decided to floor it (I tend to do that when I see clear road ahead). The PDK took it down to 3rd and I zoomed off. It was fun.
I didn't realize it could do that, so now I do it more than I should. :D |

In 60,000 miles of driving the Boxster, I am pretty sure that I never used 5th gear...not once. / |
