Electronic oil meter vs Dipstick

Hi,

I changed my oil today and as usually a couple of hours later I turned the ignition key to check oil level, It was all bars full to the top like it's overfilled.
That looked a little weird, since usually I put about 8 quarts and add some later if the level is low.
So I took the dipstick out, cleaned it, pushed it all the way in.. and the oil level was right in the middle between 2 marks..

So now I have two measurements:
- Electronic level says overfilled
- Good old dipstick, says right on

I tend to trust dipstick more than electronic sensors.. however I wanted to ask advice from collective wisdom.
Does oil sensor break? What should I check? What should I trust more?

Thanks
Sasha

PS: I have 2000 Base Boxster, with 90K on the clock
