So, after a PPI that was ok, and much deliberation i finally decided to go with the 2005 Boxster.
Just driven around the city so far and absolutely love it. You definitely get more than a few stares with the black beauty.

Hopefully it will be a long love affair. Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions.

So was this a an old style IMS bearing 2005? or a new one? There are two versions of the single row bearing used in the 987, the question is do you have the new one. This new one you can't replace as part of preventative maintenance unless you crack open the engine ($$$$$). Another reason to avoid long-term ownership of this car if its is a non-serviceable IMS bearing.

Same question applies for 997.1 Carreras in you decide to switch from the Boxster.
Although the new IMS bearing (m97) has fewer issues, it won't last forever.
Big problem for someone looking to own these 987's and Carreras long-term.
