New Member / Owner saying hi / sharing my story

			Hello Everyone,
I have come over from Rennlist ( their 986 section is not very talkative )
My First Porsche I owned was a 944, Four years ago I bought it with a broken timing belt and fixed up the engine and all the mold in interior.

^Taking the car from Vancouver to Nanaimo

^ The interior I had to work with

After a lot of hard work I got her to this point

As the story goes after a love and hate relationship of three years the automatic transmission decided to die. The car still has first and second but will not go into reverse or third. My mechanic that i get to repair my car now ( 30 years experience as a Porsche mechanic ) told me it was time to decide if i want to throw more money into an older car that is not worth much or to buy a newer car that you can travel with and not worry about.

I always kept my eye out for boosters and then I found this .... A 2003 Boxster S

I have owned the car for a little over a month now, And I still have a giant smile on my face. The car is beautiful there was no scratches or rock chips on the body. Due to some spirited driving and road trips there are a few little rock chips but I like to drive the car not sit there and look at it :P

Here are a few pictures of myself and my boxster now bought her with just over 38 000 Km on her now she has just over 43000 km on her

Took my 03 for a spin on the deserted part of the road to Campbell river a few weeks ago to see if the spoiler really does come out at 130 kph. Yep, it does. Stays out to at least 200.

Yes, congrats Finto and welcome to the forum. I too owned a 944 in the past (OK, in my case the distant past) and enjoyed it immensely - although as I suspect you have discovered, it was nowhere near as much fun to drive as the Boxster is on a great day with the top down. And lets face it, the exhaust note on the Box alone is worth the price of admission!

Cheers!

Brad

I must say Fintro11, you made an excellent move by buying a newer Porsche instead of feeding your mechanic's kids!

I love the sound of the intake as well, the thing with the boxster is you pretty much have two amazing different cars top down and top up.

And if you get tired of it there is always the cayman hard top that looks amazing!

I will post some more pictures after it was the certificate of authenticity and the windo sticker.

A few things I would like to have done to the car are:
Intake mod, smoother inflow
Maybe a chip
Cayman spoiler
Find a easy way to hard wire my iPhone to the stereo would love to keep a stock look
And I would like to get the speedster humps ( if it ever stops raining)

When I bought the car the rear tires were bald. They were p zero rosso's I went to Leavenworth and stopped at boarder tire in Blaine and had a set of Michelin super sports put on. These tires are defiantly great for spirited drives!

Awesome find with less than 24K original miles!

Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy our company half as much as you will enjoy driving the Boxster.

I was looking for an easy way to play my iPhone tunes via the stock radio but there was no easy solution. None of the local after market audio places were willing to even look at it due to the fact they had never seen one before. I settled on a hands free blue tooth device with an fm modulator. Works decent with the stock system. About $100 at futureshop .

The 03 factory radio is a cdr-23 and doesn't have any aux inputs. The Bluetooth option was the only reasonable way to play my music. Plus I have hands free for my phone as the unit will handle two units at the same time. Although, I must say the phone quality, with the top down, at 160 kph isn't great.

I think if i can not find another hardwire solution I might have to replace the stereo. I want a usb port at least or a way to charge my phone while it plays so I have the cig lighter free for either a radar/ laser detector or gps.
Gateway 500 | iPod car, iPhone car, USB car, Bluetooth car kit, Video car adapter
this is my other option a little pricey but keeps the stock look / bluetooth / hardwire and a few more ports to use

Wow . . . Love the car. Could be my cars twin.

Incidentally my wife and I are doing a west coast trip this June to visit some friends on Salt Spring Island. I'm looking forward to driving through BC with the top down, if the rain holds off.
